Ariel was completely oblivious to all these things happening on Zach’s side. She and Chad discussed for a while the high–tech material that Vireon was about to launch.

Even before the event started, Ariel had roughly listed out the pros and cons of this new material made by Vireon.

After she was done making her notes, Ariel noticed that Jayson and Nancy had split up. Nancy was nowhere to be seen. On the other hand, Jayson was trying to move away from the crowd forming around him, heading toward the hall.

Ariel put down her pen and stood up. She informed Chad before leaving her seat. “I’m going to the restroom for a bit.”

“Sure.” Chad was looking down as he responded.

Ariel stopped Jayson just as he turned the corner. Jayson’s expression remained unchanged when he saw Ariel. ” What’s wrong?”

Ariel lifted her head. Her face was so tiny that it made her big, serene–looking eyes stand out even more. “I need to ask you something. So, just give me a moment.”

This time, Ariel did not try to get Jayson’s permission first. She made her demand clear without allowing Jayson a chance to refuse.

Jayson lowered his gaze and stared at her. “Alright.”

Ariel scanned their surroundings as she tried to find a quiet spot. Many people were passing by where they were at

the moment.

Ariel wanted to prevent any instances of someone overhearing their conversation since Jayson might use that as an excuse to punish her.

Just as she was about to say something, Jayson stepped toward Ariel and lifted his hand, positioning it beside her

arm.

Ariel looked to the side and saw a group of staff members walking past them while carrying various sound equipment. These men might bump into Ariel at any moment if they had not paid enough attention to their surroundings.

It appeared Jayson was trying to protect Ariel by holding his arm up and shielding her.

For a moment, Ariel felt quite surprised. However, she decided to pay no mind to Jayson’s ambiguous actions.

Instead, she furrowed her brows and asked frigidly, “I sent you the document two months ago. Have you not settled the relevant procedures?”

“The document?” Jayson looked at Ariel. Then, he directed his gaze in a certain direction. It seemed like something had caught his attention.

“Grandma wants you and me to spend Valentine’s Day together. I think you need to explain our situation to her as soon as possible.”

Ariel did not want this situation to drag on any further. Not only would she be troubled by it, but Betty would also be wasting her time doing something pointless.

Betty had high blood pressure and a weak heart. Ariel just could not bring herself to tell Betty the truth. Instead, she was going to let Jayson take care of the mess he made since he was the one who had an affair.

“Mr. Larkin, it’s been a couple of days since we celebrated the federal holiday. I think we should get on with completing the divorce…”

A commotion erupted in the distance just then.

Ariel glanced over her shoulder to check what was going on–the tall form standing before her moved at that moment. Jayson strode past Ariel.

He did not stay and let Ariel finish what she had to say. Jayson’s expression hardened as he hurried off.

Ariel opened her mouth, but Jayson had already moved too far away for her to call after him.

She could not understand why Jayson suddenly left without saying anything when he had agreed to spare her

some of his time.

Ariel turned around and tried to catch up with Jayson. Then, she realized he was hurrying toward Nancy. She only noticed at that point that Nancy had gotten into trouble.

A man in a suit lunged toward Nancy. His eyes were red. The man kept mumbling to himself, “Don’t get in my way. Nancy is my girlfriend! She and I studied in the same college. Nancy!”

Nancy’s face grew pale. She stared at the man with a troubled look on her face.

Security guards rushed over and pulled the man away.

The man bellowed, “Nancy, why won’t you answer me? We studied together in the library back then!”

He looked at Nancy with a fervent gaze. It was as if he were staring at a goddess.

Nancy seemed like she had gotten quite a shock.

Jayson made it there just as the man was about to reach for Nancy’s hand again. He grabbed the man by his collar and yanked forcefully, hurling the man onto the floor.

As if she had seen her savior, Nancy threw her arms around Jayson and buried her face in his chest.
