Theobald lived far from this hospital. By the time he arrived, George’s arm had already been bandaged. Because the wound was deep, the doctor recommended he stay for a few days of observation in case of infection. Theobald paused. He had thought Mr. Spencer was playing the hero, but it turned out to be more of a “heroic but unnecessary” situation. He glanced at Marguerite, wondering if she appreciated the gesture.
She did. Marguerite studied George’s face and saw that he was being completely sincere. This man seemed to have an innate ability to see things from others’ perspectives.
She smiled. “Even if I could have avoided it, your willingness to help is still something to be grateful for. Come on, let’s go to the police station and give our statements p>
Aaron had already called. The police had retrieved the security footage from outside the restaurant and needed them to come in for questioning.
When they got outside, Marguerite looked around for the burly man but couldn’t find him. He really was a true Good Samaritan, doing a good deed without asking for a name. Marguerite felt a pang of regret for her earlier suspicions about him having a crush on George.
