Natalie fumbled for her phone and answered the call. “Natalie, you were looking to sell your parents’ old house, right? I have a friend who’s interested. Can we meet there in a bit?” It was Arianna.
“Okay, I’ll just get ready… cough, cough A violent coughing fit seized her.
“Are you sick?” Arianna’s tone sharpened with concern.
“I think I caught a cold. I took some medicine last night. I’ll take some more now p>
Natalie’s voice was weak, and Arianna’s became serious. “No way. You’re going to the hospital. You sound terrible. I’m coming to pick you up. It’s settled.” She hung up before Natalie could protest.
Registration, blood tests, and a consultation later, Natalie was diagnosed with a viral flu and fever.
“I told you it was nothing,” Natalie said as they left with a bag of medication. “I have all this at home p>
“Yes, yes, I’m overreacting,” Arianna said, though she wasn’t sorry. Natalie knew her friend was just worried.
As Natalie put the medicine in her bag, Arianna tugged on her arm. “Look over there! It’s Alexander Ramirez!” she hissed, pointing to their left. “And Camila White! What are they doing at the hospital p>
Across the lobby, Natalie instantly spotted Alexander. His custom-tailored suit and striking features made him stand out in any crowd. Beside him, Camila stumbled after being bumped by someone, and he immediately pulled her closer protectively.
“Shameless,” Arianna muttered. “I bet he has no idea you’re sick p>
Natalie averted her gaze. “He hasn’t been home for the past few days p>
“I knew it. God, I really want to know what they’re here for p>
“Camila probably isn’t feeling well,” Natalie said, turning to leave.
“Is she an orphan?” Arianna fumed, then paused. “But doesn’t this seem odd? The Ramirez family has its own hospital. Why wouldn’t he take her there? You’re here because you want nothing to do with him, but them p>
Arianna had a point. It was strange. Before Natalie could answer, Arianna grabbed her hand and pulled her along. “Let’s follow them p>
They trailed them to the obstetrics and gynecology department, stopping at a distance to watch
them enter an examination room et
together. A nurse hurried past them, speaking to a colleague. These are Ms. White’s pregnancy test results. Take them in right away.
“No way. Camila White is pregnant?” Arianna’s eyes went wide. “But isn’t her husband dead? And he was disabled, couldn’t perform… so whose baby is it?” She turned to look at Natalie.
Whether from the illness or the shock, Natalie’s face was deathly pale. Her eyes were fixed on the uple, “Camila didn’t just return month ago,” she said softly. “She came back several times over the last six months p>
She remembered Camila mentioning it to Mrs. Ramirez at the family dinner. Coincidentally, it was six months ago that Alexander had all but stopped coming home. She had guessed the reason for his absence, but she never imagined he would be, so reckless as to get Camila pregnant.
So this was why he never wanted a child with her.
And his absence these past few days? He must have just found out about the pregnancy.
Arianna’s jaw dropped. “You mean they’ve been seeing each other behind your back all this time?” Official source ıs.net
It seemed he had finally gotten what he wanted. Natalie’s expression was as still as
a calm lake. “Let’s go. Now that we know, there’s nothing left to see p>
She turned away.
Inside the doctor’s office, Alexander was waiting while Camila was in for an ultrasound. He was speaking with the department head, a doctor he had specifically requested. As they chatted, a nurse entered.
Handing a file to another doctor, she said, “Dr. Main, the only patient who hasn’t come back for her follow-up after her miscarriage last month is someone named Natalie Watson p>
Alexander’s head snapped up.
