Chapter 102

The person behind her seemed to freeze for a second.

“My arm’s gone numb from you using it as a pillow. I just asked you to move a little. How is that perverted p>

Natalie turned her head and saw that his other arm was indeed tucked under her

neck.

So that’s what he meant. Mortified, Natalie, who had been about to just shift her position, sat up completely.

“I’m sorry,” she muttered, her voice laced with embarrassment.

Alexander rotated his painfully numb arm. He saw her head bowed, her cheeks flushed a deep crimson.

Realization dawned on him, and he chuckled. “What did you think I meant by ‘move a little p>

Hearing the amusement in his voice, Natalie wished the ground would swallow her whole.

She buried her head even lower. “I didn’t think anything p>

By now, the sun was fully up. Alexander sat up as well.

“It’s still early. It doesn’t take long to get to the cultural center from here, so you have time to sleep a bit more p>

He hadn’t forgotten that the cultural center’s artifact exhibition was today, Saturday.

His relatively good mood soured at the thought, especially when he recalled her words from the previous night about using the tickets Eugene Ramirez had given her.

Alexander’s smile vanished. After speaking, he went straight into the bathroom. Natalie was still reeling from her earlier embarrassment and hadn’t quite caught what he said, only hearing him tell her to go back to sleep.

But how could she possibly sleep now? Noticing she was only in a thin nightgown, she quickly got up to change.

When Alexander came out of the bathroom, he saw Natalie had just finished dressing in a light-colored pantsuit that covered her from neck to toe.

She really wasn’t wasting any time.

He thought back to how she never used to go out during her period, always spending two days resting at home, needing him to hold her to feel comfortable.

Were the tickets from Eugene really that special? So special that she would ignore her own health?

Alexander’s eyes darkened. Without a word, he walked past her and out of the bedroom.

Natalie glanced at the doorway, assuming he was in a hurry to leave since he’d mentioned he had plans for the day. She didn’t think much of it.

Downstairs, Charlotte Roberts was already at the dining table, and Alexander hadn’t left yet.

“Natalie, why do you look so pale?” Charlotte asked upon seeing her, immediately suspecting Alexander had said something hurtful. She turned and glared at him.

“Did you upset Natalie again p>

Before he could answer, Charlotte raised her cane to strike, but Natalie quickly intervened.

“Grandma, it’s not him. I just got my period last night. It has nothing to do with him p>

“You don’t have to cover for him. I know better than anyone how infuriating Alexander can be. Don’t worry, I’m here. I’ll back you up p>

Seeing Charlotte’s cane swing his way again, Alexander moved to the other side of the table, torn between frustration and amusement. “Why do yo@always jump to conclusions? I’m starting to think you didn’t move in here to recuperate, but to me p>

at

“Would I hit you if you weren’t causing trouble?” Charlotte retorted, exasperated.

Alexander raised his hands in surrender, not wanting to genuinely upset her. “Fine, you’re right about everything. Let’s just have a peaceful breakfast so we don’t make Natalie late for her outing p>

At his last words, Charlotte looked at Natalie. “You have to work on a Saturday? You look terrible. You should be resting at home p>

Natalie was completely confused. “I’m not going out, and I’m not working.” She felt a pang of relief that she’d given the tickets to Ava Thompson; otherwise, they would have gone to waste since she was in no condition to go.

Alexander nonchalantly looked up as he pulled out a chair and sat down. “You’re not

going to the artifact exhibition?” he asked casually.

“No, I’m not p>

Alexander’s brow relaxed. He

lowered his gaze, slowly stirring the oatmeal in his bowl. “Those tickets are hard to come by. It would be a waste not to do, and it would be a frame to disappoint your uncle p>

He put special emphasis on the last sentence.

A dull ache started in Natalie’s abdomen again, and she didn’t notice the tone of his

voice. She sat down and began to eat the warm oatmeal.

“I already gave the tickets to my assistant yesterday. She was interested in going,

so they didn’t go to waste. I don’t think Uncle will mind p>

She gave the tickets away yesterday? That meant she hadn’t considered it that important after all. Googlá´‡ search ÍŸ.net

As Natalie was eating, Alexander stood up. “Save some room, there’s more coming p>

The table was already laden with breakfast. More food?

Natalie looked at Charlotte, her first thought being that her grandmother had

prepared some kind of special tonic for her.

But Charlotte looked just as puzzled.
