Charlotte walked in with two people at her side. Jackson on the left, Adonis on the right.
As soon as they stepped into the lobby, the mood shifted. The whole place seemed to hold its breath. Every employee’s head turned. Eyes widened. For a moment, you could almost hear all those hearts skip a beat as they realized who had just arrived.
Was that really Charlotte?
She was gorgeous, that much was obvious, but there was something else about her. She carried herself with this quiet, untouchable confidence. Not a hint of shame or fear, not even with all the gossip and ugly headlines floating around online.
People hadn’t forgotten how the company’s stocks had crashed because of her scandal. Now, the way everyone looked at her was complicated. Some were curious. Some were judging her. And a few just looked shocked that she’d even dare to show up.
She actually had the nerve to come back.

The receptionist tried to stop her, but Charlotte didn’t even break stride. She walked straight toward the executive elevator.
Panicked, the receptionist rushed after her. “Hey, you can’t go up unless you’ve been announced!”
Announced?
This was her family’s company. She didn’t need anyone’s permission.
Adonis noticed the commotion, frowned, and turned around. His voice was cold. “Maybe take a look at whose company you’re working for.”
“You think you can block Charlotte? Are you tired of living?”
“Out of the way.”
The receptionist just stood there, stunned, as Charlotte got into the elevator.
Charlotte didn’t look like someone who’d come to apologize. If anything, she looked ready to take charge. It was almost scary.
It took a few seconds for the
receptionist to snap out of it. She hurried back to her desk, hands shaking as she dialed the executive
secretary’s office. “Charlottes here she managed to say.
The secretary’s heart skipped. Before the receptionist could say anything else, she
hung up and rushed to Steven’s office, knocking quickly.
“Steven, the company might be okay after all,” she said, breathless. “Charlotte’s here.”
“She must have seen your calls. Maybe she’s finally ready to apologize and help fix the company’s image.”
“Is that so?” Steven let out a dry laugh. “Well, it’s about time she did something useful.”
He didn’t waste another second. He
and his secretary hurried toward the conference room, already
whispering about how Charlotte should phrase her apology
Olivia happened to be nearby and overheard them. She frowned. Charlotte, admit
she was wrong? That just didn’t sound like her at all.
Still, curiosity got the better of her, so Olivia followed them down the hallway.
A few minutes later, Steven pushed

Steven’s heart skipped. For a second, his whole body went rigid.
