Charlotte glanced at the message, a lazy smile tugging at her lips.
[Not interested.]
If she ever wanted in, would she really need to compete for it?
Dr. David replied, sounding a little let down. [You sure you won’t regret skipping out on the medical alliance?]
Charlotte sent back, [I won’t be the one regretting it. They will.]
The two-hour video call finally wrapped up.
Charlotte had drifted off more than once.
The moment she pushed open the dorm room door, her roommates launched themselves at their computers, wild-eyed and desperate to register for classes.
Emma groaned, “How are people so fast? Are they sitting on top of the router or something?”
Alvina was already panicking. “I’m locked out! I can’t even get to the site!”
Eileen let out a dramatic wail. “Same! It won’t load for me either!”
Charlotte heard all the chaos and just raised her eyes, calm as ever. She strolled over, set her hand on her mouse, and said, “My internet’s pretty solid. Want to use my computer to pick your classes?”
The other three didn’t hesitate for a second. They bolted over to her side, hope lighting up their faces.
And just like that, they were in.
“I’m taking this class.”
“Me too!”
“Same here!”
In less than five minutes, everyone had their classes sorted out, smooth as butter. No freezing, no glitches, nothing.
This round of registration was for all freshmen, thousands of people trying to get onto the same page at once. The system kept crashing, and honestly, just loading the website felt impossible. None of them would’ve made it without Charlotte.

After her first class, Charlotte didn’t stick around campus.
Jackson and Adonis were already waiting for her by the gate.
The second she appeared, Jackson swung the car door open. “Charlotte.”
She gave a quick nod, slid into the back seat, and looked up. “Any word from L?”
Adonis answered for both of them.

Everyone knew Reaver’s training was brutal. If you put a delicate girl through it, she’d probably break.
Charlotte’s eyes flickered, and a slow, knowing smile crept across her lips. “I’m not sure about L, but I’d say that girl is smarter than you think.”
Adonis stared, caught off guard. “Wait, you know her?”
Charlotte leaned back, looking straight at Adonis, her tone cool and measured. “L’s real name is Donald. The girl he’s talking about? That’s his sister.” Donald? His sister?
Adonis pressed his lips together, thinking hard. After a moment, he suddenly looked up, eyes wide.
Wasn’t Donald Charlotte’s older brother?
That meant L’s sister was…
