Zach’s brows arched when he noticed how Ariel had tactfully excused herself and stepped away.
It seemed like Ariel was smart enough to know that someone like her shouldn’t foolishly try to act as if she belonged in a circle she didn’t belong to now that Nancy was there.
Ariel was completely oblivious to those thoughts he had.
At that point, Chad was surrounded by a group of people who were trying to ask him if there were any opportunities for them to collaborate with Faye Tech. Ariel lipped away to take a breather.
She filled a small plate with some desserts and nibbled on them since she was a bit hungry.
Soon, Ariel started feeling a little thirsty. She glanced at the drinks on the table, but she couldn’t tell which had a lower alcohol content.
In the end, she chose one that looked like fruit juice and reached her hand toward it.
Just then, someone placed their hand over the drink Ariel was looking at.
Ariel lifted her head and met Jayson’s deep–set eyes. Her expression hardened.
Jayson didn’t seem to mind the change in her expression. He moved the drink away and said monotonously, Don’t you have alcohol intolerance?”
A small frown creased Ariel’s forehead. For a moment, she was at a loss for what to say.
It was because she was indeed troubled by that condition. However, the symptoms were not that severe.
Ariel was quite surprised that Jayson knew about this. Then again, they were married for three years. Jayson might often be cold and distant, and he didn’t harbor any special feelings for Ariel, but his keen observation skills likely meant he remembered that about her.
Ariel instantly let go of the glass.
Jayson was probably there to get a drink for himself. He glanced at Ariel, who clearly had no desire to speak to him. Then, he took a glass of fruit juice from a little further away and put it in front of Ariel. “You can drink this.”
Then, Jayson took his drink, turned around, and walked away. It appeared as though he had only helped Ariel with the drinks because he happened to be there just now.
Ariel furrowed her brows. However, she felt nothing as she gazed at the glass of fruit juice.
Meanwhile, Carlos entered the hall in quick strides. The atmosphere inside the hall was charged with excitement as soon as he made an appearance.
Chad immediately made his way through the crowd and got to where Ariel was. “Let’s go. You should tell my old man the thoughts and new findings you have after having done some reading lately.”
Chad was convinced that Ariel wouldn’t have any issue answering any questions once she had gone through the relevant reading materials.
For three years, Carlos didn’t accept any students after Ariel decided not to further her studies.
This year, Ariel finally decided to get back on her feet and resume her studies. Carlos immediately announced he would be taking one student under his tutelage. Chad could tell that one spot was reserved for Ariel
Ariel said flatly, “Jayson and the others are talking to Mr. Carlos now.”
Chad turned his head and found that Jayson had brought Nikhey to where Carlos was
With Jayson leading the way, the other guests held back from approaching Carlos right away since they didn’t want to risk offending Jayson.
Jayson spoke in a gentle, polite manner. He had an impassive look on his face. Still, he was willing to approach Carlos and initiate a conversation with him just to help Nancy.
Chad smirked. “Previously, Jayson gave the acrospace research institute 200 million dollars just to help Nancy meet my old man. This time, he’s personally introducing her to him. He’s really invested in this!”
Then, Chad started pulling Ariel along toward the trio. “They can still ask my old man whatever questions they have while we discuss our matters with him. Let’s go and join them now.”
Ariel followed behind Chad. However, she heard Nancy saying to Carlos as soon as she got close enough. “Mr. Carlos, I’ve heard from Jayson that you’re planning to take a postgraduate student this year. Although I’ve
to become your completed my PhD studies in Merinia, I believe there’s still a lot for me to learn. I’d like to apply t postgraduate student and receive your guidance.‘
Ariel’s expression turned frigid.
It appeared Jayson was trying to help Nancy obtain the spot after receiving news about it.
Through the application method, Nancy wouldn’t have to take any tests. Instead, she could just go for the interview.
However, Carlos was only taking one postgraduate student this year.
Ariel glanced at Nancy with widened eyes. Then, she turned to look at the calm and composed Jayson standing beside Nancy.
Jayson paid no mind to those around him as he kept his gaze on Carlos. “Mr. Carlos, Nancy is very talented. I hope you’ll consider her request.”
