Perry couldn’t hide the shock on his face anymore.
Was Ariel’s name added to Faye Technologies‘ project not because Chad was trying to pad her résumé, but because she had genuinely participated in the development?
That thought cracked open something in his mind and quickly took over all his reasoning.
Perry sat there in deep contemplation for quite some time.
It wasn’t until Freya nudged him that he came back to his senses and drove her back to school.
Right then, he got a call from Matt, asking him to come by Bluum Corp.
Perry hesitated for a second before agreeing.
When he arrived, he headed straight to the top floor and noticed Nancy was also there.
A flicker of suspicion flashed in Perry’s eyes.
Inside the office, Jayson was sitting on the couch reading a document. In addition to Matt and Nancy, two sharply dressed businessmen were present.
“What took you so long?” Matt turned to look at Perry and teased, “Don’t tell me you’ve been secretly dating someone.”
Nancy also looked over, observing Perry’s expression.
“Really?” she asked.
Even Jayson lifted his head.
But Perry remained calm. “No.”
Nancy raised an eyebrow but wasn’t surprised.
Perry was different from Matt. The latter had dated a few people, but Perry had high standards when it came to relationships,
If he really was seeing someone, it meant the woman was exceptional, and he would have introduced her formally.
The truth was, Perry hadn’t had such intentions at all.
He didn’t continue that line of conversation. Instead, his gaze drifted to Jayson with a bit of contemplation.
If his suspicion was correct, if Ariel had really contributed to Faye Technologies‘ project, should he tell Jayson?
Did Jayson even know?
And if he didn’t, would finding out change the way he saw the divorce and everything that came after?
Jayson noticed Perry’s gaze. He looked over lazily. “What?”
The moment their eyes met, Perry crushed the thought entirely.
He rubbed his phone for a moment, then shook his head. “Nothing.”
In the end, he said nothing.
Though it was still just speculation without confirmation, Perry had already made up his mind that he would do
everything he could to secure a part in Faye Technologies‘ upcoming projects.
“So? What’s going on? And who are these two?” He shifted the topic, masking his inner turmoil.
Seeing that Perry had no interest in continuing the dating topic, Matt shrugged in boredom, then replied, “It’s great news for Nancy. She’s finally ready to make it public.
When Ariel returned to Faye Technologies, Lesley texted to say the surgery date had been confirmed. It was set for early June.
She had no objections.
When she brought the gift from Freya and Perry upstairs, she realized it was from one of the most high–end aromatherapy candle brands.
If what Perry said was true and it was a custom order, then it had to be quite expensive.
She found it odd.
She already owed Perry a favor for helping her book that doctor for Leonard. And now the siblings had gifted her something.
She shook her head and didn’t think more of it.
She had a meeting lined up at 3:00 pm. She had also arranged to meet Alan White from the new energy company.
She and Chad headed over to the central business district for it.
Alan showed a strong interest in collaborating and expressed approval of Ariel’s proposals.
After an hour and a half of discussion, Alan, still feeling inspired, suggested they grab dinner and continue the conversation.
Positioned near the central business district, the restaurant faced an imposing Class A office building that towered across the street. From her window seat, Ariel’s eyes landed on it immediately.
Seeing her gaze linger there, Chad raised a brow and leaned over. “The location’s pretty great, right? I’ve actually been thinking. Should we expand Faye Tech and lease an entire building like that?”
