Ariel stopped by her place.

She emptied her bag and laid everything out. Right on top was the equity transfer contract for Nexura Solutions.

Jayson had always been generous when it came to money. With this single contract, she would be earning billions of dollars in dividends every year.

Even if she never worked another day in her life and spent the rest of it partying and shopping, she would be just

fine.

Ariel took his action of giving her equity in Nexura Solutions now as just another form of compensation.

She filed the contract away in the cabinet, then took a photo of the divorce–certificate before opening the drawer to

store it.

But just as she reached in, she spotted something small tucked in the corner.

It was a charm for fertility she had received at Marie’s great–grandchild’s 100–day celebration. She had kept it here and forgotten about it.

Her fingers brushed over it. Her mood, which had felt surprisingly light after the divorce, suddenly turned bitter.

Ariel instinctively touched her lower abdomen.

In two months, she would be undergoing a full hysterectomy. After that, the chance to have children would be gone forever.

It was already decided. She didn’t have a choice.

Ariel stared at the charm for a long time. Her fingers brushed over it one last time before she placed it back in the drawer next to the divorce certificate.

She had decided to keep it as a keepsake.

Janice had the loudest reaction, spamming over a dozen celebratory messages.

Chad, caught in the middle, squeezed in one line. “Dinner’s on me tonight. We’re celebrating your escape from misery.”

Ariel smiled.

She simply replied with a “Sounds good” and went to rest for a bit.

When the time came, she pulled herself up and headed to the cafe Perry had picked out. He had sent her the location earlier. “No rush. Take your time. He’s quite nice. You can talk first and see how he reacts.”

The cafe was near the World Trade Center.

Ariel replied with a quick thanks.

Leonard’s case wasn’t simple. It all depended on whether the doctor was willing to take it on.

When she arrived, she saw Perry already waiting outside.

She walked over and asked, puzzled, “Why are you out here”

As Perry met her curious gaze, his hand curled slightly at his side. Then he smiled lightly. “Just needed some air. Come on, I’ll take you in.”

Ariel didn’t think much of it. She nodded and followed him upstairs.

But when she saw the man sitting at the table, she was surprised.

Apparently, he was just as surprised to see her. But he didn’t show it. Instead, he stood up and nodded politely.” Ms. Walker.”

Ariel approached. “Mr. Spencer?”

She hadn’t expected the person Perry had arranged for her to meet to be Liam.

She had seen Liam at Jackson’s birthday party, but they weren’t acquainted. And with so many people around, there hadn’t been a chance to get introduced.

“Liam studied medicine,” Perry explained, doing his part as the middleman. “He’s young, but you can trust him. He spent a year with Doctors Without Borders. Complex cases are second nature to him. He’s made a name for himself internationally. These days, he’s focused on oncology.”

He was trying to reassure her, in case she had doubts about trusting a young doctor.

But Ariel didn’t have any of those biases. Her eyes were calm and composed. “I know. Thank you, Mr. Spencer, for making the time to meet me today.”

Liam finally took a moment to really look at her.

Her eyes were unusually clear, quiet, detached, but sincere,

It reminded him of the birthday party when she and Zach had clashed.

She had seemed gentle then, but there was steel beneath it.

“No need to thank me,” Liam replied.

His refined and handsome features were free of the slightest arrogance.

“Perry’s been trying to get me to make time for a while now. I’m sorry. It got delayed because of some research work and the birthday party.”
