Chad’s face darkened. “It seems Jayson’s side has offered to help you pay the indemnity for the breach of contract. You’re speaking a lot more boldly now.”
Chad wasn’t worried that Seth might leak the information regarding Faye Tech’s projects and the technologies used.
It was because Ariel was the only person who had full knowledge of the important technologies that had been developed and used in their last project, Only a handful of their most trusted employees were aware of this.
Seth took off his employee badge. “People are always trying to strive for something better. I hope you’ll understand my reasons.”
No one would refuse a job offer that came with the company’s shares as well. With no backing or support, Faye Tech would have to face a fierce competition with their rivals on their own.
Seth would rather follow Nancy’s lead and have a better opportunity to wield his skills and knowledge.
Chad didn’t try to persuade him to stay. He merely stared at Seth as if he were looking at a fool and snickered.
Seth only knew about how smart and capable Ariel was. He thought she didn’t have any backing.
In truth, Ariel had the support of the group with the highest level of authority in their country. With her status as the U.N2 developer, she could have access and clearance to pretty much everything she needed.
They were still keeping this part of her information a secret. Unfortunately, those who were too eager to pick a side didn’t realize what they were missing out on.
Ariel dropped her gaze and pondered for a moment.
Seth was a competent staff member. However, Faye Tech wasn’t short of people like him.
Jayson’s side knew that poaching a few of Faye Tech’s employees would have no significant impact on the business, either.
Perhaps what they wanted to achieve was not to crush and bring down Faye Tech. Instead, they were trying to sow the seeds of discord and make things uncomfortable for the Faye Tech team.
Even if they were to bring this incident up later on, Jayson’s side could just claim that it was Seth who had shown interest and approached the Veyo Solutions team on his own. They couldn’t possibly blame Jayson and seek any other compensation from him for what happened.
Fortunately, things were quite stable over at Faye Tech. Seth was the only one who chose to quit.
The other members in the tech department had a pretty firm stance. Most geniuses like them had a strong pride and a professional work ethic. With Chad reassuring their employees, Seth’s resignation didn’t cause too much of
disturbance in their company.
They couldn’t force someone who wished to leave to stay, so Ariel didn’t dwell on the incident for too long.
That afternoon, she received a WhatsApp message from Carlos. “An official would like to meet you. When will you be free?”
“Is it someone from the Department of Defense?” Ariel wondered.
She and Chad needed to handle the issue involving their employees first. Also, Ariel just spoke to Chad today regarding the choice of renewable energy for their new project. They would be quite busy for the next couple of days.
Ariel thought about it and responded, “I’m free next week’m available any time after next Tuesday.”
Carlos sent another message. “Don’t forget to keep up with your reading. I’ve sent you a new assignment. Meet me once you’ve completed it.”
Ariel was struck speechless.
She felt like a donkey that was pulling a cart nonstop, and carlos would crack his whip from time to time to make her move.
After replying to Carlos‘ message, Ariel stared pensively at her phone. She hadn’t informed Betty that she had changed her number. Considering that she had signed the agreement, it seemed a bit inappropriate if Ariel didn’t tell Betty her new number.
She didn’t spend too long thinking about it. Ariel called Betty right away.
Betty picked up the phone. “Who’s this?”
“Grandma, it’s me.” Ariel explained in a gentle voice, “This is my new phone number. I’m not using my old number anymore. Remember to save this number on your phone.”
Betty asked curiously, “Why did you suddenly change your phone number?”
Ariel came up with an excuse. “It’s for work.”
Betty didn’t try to ask for more details. She said in a warm, loving tone, “Okay. I came to the hospital to visit Jayson. He’s beside me right now. Do you want to talk to him for a bit?”
Ariel hadn’t expected that Betty was with Jayson. Her eyes turned cold as she was reminded of how Jayson’s men had poached a Faye Tech employee recently. Ariel furrowed her brows. “It’s alright, Grandma.”
She had just finished saying that. However, Ariel heard Jayson’s calm and emotionless voice coming down the line the next instant. “Are you free to drop by the hospital today?”
