Chapter : 65
Ariel was simply stating a fact.
Wendy looked at Lucas in surprise. She hadn’t known Ariel had been married.
Lucas narrowed his eyes. He could tell that there were serious tensions between Jayson and Ariel. The latter wasn’t the kind to make a scene unless she was pushed to the edge, like now.
He reached out to take the coconut juice in front of her. “She doesn’t drink coconut juice.”
Jayson turned slightly toward Nancy and listened to her speak. No one could tell if he’d heard it or not.
Ariel glanced at Lucas. She had to admit that he knew her best.
Wendy suddenly sounded a little jealous. “You treat Ariel so well.”
Lucas wrapped an arm around her with his lips curved in a slight smile. After he whispered something in her ear, she punched him lightly and blushed.
Ariel looked at Lucas, then at Jayson. The latter showed no reaction.
She knew that if it wasn’t something he cared about, it would never matter to him.
After the meal, Jayson and Nancy were the first to leave. As they were walking out, Jayson turned to Chad. “Mr. Hockney, can we have a private moment to talk?”
Chad had no reason to refuse. “Of course.”
Ariel knew better and didn’t follow.
Lucas and Wendy got up. As they were about to leave, Ariel caught sight of the delicate airplane charm hanging from Wendy’s phone case.
She froze and recognized it instantly as the charm she’d made as a teenager. It had taken her nearly a week, and she had rubbed her fingers raw from the effort.
Lucas had always treasured it. Seeing her peeled skin, he’d been both furious and heartbroken.
Catching her gaze lingering on the charm, he gave Wendy a pat and said, “Wait for me in the car.”
Wendy looked thoughtfully at Ariel and said, “Okay. Don’t take too long.”
As soon as she left, Lucas said, “Wendy really liked it, so I gave it to her. Do you mind?”
Ariel snapped out of it and lightly said, “No.”
Lucas noticed her coldness and cheekily said, “If you don’t, could you make another one? She’s always wanted a matching couple set, but I couldn’t find anything like it.”
It was true that Ariel no longer cared about such stuff, but the request was so absurd that it made her frown.
The nerves in her temple throbbed as she looked at him. “Throw that away and buy a matching set then.”

Ariel took his arm and steered him toward the exit. “Nothing. Let’s go.”
Lucas didn’t stop them. He just shoved his hands into his pockets and glanced toward the distance, where Jayson was standing side by side with Nancy. His expression turned slightly grim.
One of the executives nervously asked, “Mr. Sanderson, is everything alright?”
Lucas rubbed his temples. “Yeah. Let’s go.”
Back at Faye Technologies, Ariel finally found out what had happened. Jayson had asked to speak with Chad just to arrange a meeting with Carlos!
“Jayson wants to meet my father and told me to name a price! He’d agree to anything within his power!
“Nancy wants to write a research paper and wants guidance from Carlos. Is she even worthy?” he sneered.
Ariel was silent for a long time.
Jayson was willing to go to such lengths for Ariel, even promising favors. Everyone knew the weight his words held.
It was clear that even if Chad demanded the moon, Jayson would go all out to fulfill his wishes just for Nancy.
