Chapter 100
Alexander didn’t come home for dinner.
Charlotte Roberts grumbled under her breath.
“Alexander is busy with work. He often works late. Please don’t be upset,” Natalie said, trying to soothe her. Compared to the past when he would stay out all night, his current schedule was a significant improvement.
“Let me ask you, did he give you that necklace he bought at the auction today p>
Charlotte had also seen the interview.
Natalie was at a loss for words. The “Starry Sky” necklace was meant for Camila White, so of course she didn’t have it. But she couldn’t tell Charlotte the truth.
“We haven’t seen each other since the auction, so he hasn’t had the chance yet p>
Charlotte snorted. “Hasn’t had the chance, or did he give it to that Camila White? I heard the reporter’s question loud and clear in the video!” Alexander had claimed to be on her side, but his interview revealed his true colors. Even if he wouldn’t say who it was for, he should have at least denied it when asked if it was for Camila! Was it possible Alexander had just been stringing her along, with no real intention of winning Natalie back?
Charlotte’s face darkened, and she thumped her cane on the floor in frustration.
Worried about her health, Natalie quickly added, “To be honest, I don’t really care whether he gives me gifts or not. Besides, that necklace is incredibly valuable. If I wore it out, it would attract a lot of attention p>
“Grandma, you know me. I’ve never liked being flashy. And if it just sits in a box, it loses its meaning, don’t you think?” She took all the blame on herself, desperate to prevent Charlotte from having another health scare.
Charlotte looked at her. “So if Alexander really did give that necklace to Camila White, you wouldn’t be angry p>
Natalie smiled and shook her head. “I truly don’t care for those things. If I did, believe me, I’d be demanding it from him myself, with or without your prompting p>
Just then, Susan came out from the kitchen with a tureen of soup and announced, “Mr. Ramirez, you’re home p>
Natalie and Charlotte both turned to see Alexander standing in the foyer. He must have arrived at some point without them noticing.
“You don’t even announce yourself when you come home? Are you trying to scare us?” Charlotte said, her tone icy.
Alexander took off his suit jacket and draped it over a chair. Dressed in just his gray vest and white shirt, he walked over and sat down.
“You were the ones so engrossed in badmouthing me. How is that my fault p>
“Who’s badmouthing you? We’re speaking the truth!” Charlotte asked him directly. “Where is the necklace? The one you spent thirty million on p>
Alexander had Susan ladle him a bowl of soup. He took a slow sip before
answering, “I gave it away p>
“Gave it to whom?” Charlotte stared at him, her anger simmering.
“Do you need to manage that, too? I have my own plans. You should worry less and focus on getting better p>
He took a few more sips of soup, then stood up, giving Charlotte no opportunity to explode. “I have to go. Enjoy your dinner, and stop worrying about me p>
With that, he left the table, grabbed his jacket, and walked out the door.
Natalie frowned. So much for their act. He was supposed to be helping her keep his grandmother calm, not provoking her.
Charlotte was furious, but she was
more worried about Natalie’s
feelings. She patted her hand. “He

might have given it as a business gift is not easy running a Corporation as large as the Ramirez Group. Even for a company that powerful, some favors still need to be paid p>
A thirty-million-dollar favor was a massive one. Even as she said it Charlotte knew it sounded weak Who could possibly.command that level of respect from the Ramirez Group?
Natalie offered a faint smile, comforting Charlotte instead. “As long as you’re not
upset, that’s all that matters p>
Aaron Lee had just driven Mr.
Ramirez home and was about to
turn the car around when he saw him emerge from the villa again. He quickly got out and opened, the rear door. Read full story at.net
Once he was back in the driver’s seat, he looked in the rearview mirror, uncertain. “Mr. Ramirez, where are we going p>
Alexander’s face was grim. The words he had overheard when he first walked in were still ringing in his ears. She had said she didn’t care if he gave her things.
Did she genuinely not care about the gifts, or did she just not care if they came from him?
His mind flashed back to the estate, to how happy she had seemed when Eugene gave her those tickets to the artifact exhibition.
Aaron noticed his boss’s expression growing darker by the second and didn’t dare ask again. He contemplated starting the car and just driving somewhere, anywhere.
Before he could, Alexander’s cold voice cut through the silence.
“Take that ‘Starry Sky’ necklace to Camila White p>
