After her shower, Natalie checked her phone and saw a new message.
“I’ll pick you up after work tomorrow. Let’s go out for dinner p>

Natalie sat on her bed, fingers hovering over the screen, then replied, “I’m kind of busy tomorrow. Might have to work late. Let’s skip dinner p>
Arianna’s words from the other day echoed in her mind. She and Alexander really did come from different worlds. Too much had happened between them. She couldn’t let herself get her hopes up again.
A few seconds later, her phone buzzed. Alexander was calling.
She stared at the screen, hesitating, then finally answered just before it stopped ringing.

Not wanting to keep him waiting, she hurried out.
Aaron opened the car door for her. Alexander was already inside, his long legs crossed, looking sharp in a tailored suit He was so handsome it was almost unreal, and she couldn’t help but stare for a second.
“Ms. White.” Aaron’s voice brought her back, reminding her to get in.
She slid into the seat, moving close and looping her arm through Alexander’s. “Alex, I’m really happy you’re coming with me to my appointment. The baby is happy, too”
Alexander kept his face neutral, gently pulling his arm away.
“I asked Dr. Bell to add an extra test,” he said.
“What kind of test?” Camila asked, curiosity lighting up her eyes.
He glanced at her. “It’s nothing special. Just an extra check, for peace of mind p>

At the hospital, a nurse led Camila to the exam room while Alexander waited in Dr. Bell’s office.
