“The owners thought it was overkill,” Andres replied, lowering his voice, “but the engineer was firm about it. He said it wasn’t just for storms or break-ins. He told them, ‘The end is near. You’ll thank me when the world starts to fall apart p>
Theo’s eyes narrowed. “I thought the place was meant to be just a vacation beach resort property for exclusive booking p>
Andres gave a small shrug. “Yeah, but Mark still added everything the engineer asked for. The engineer said he worked like a man racing against time. Never explained what he meant. Just said that when things start going wrong, this place might be one of the few still standing p>
Then Andres glanced at the reinforced wall outside the window and added, “Actually… Mark didn’t just build this one. He told me that he had the same structure built overseas, somewhere in the mountains of Zealus Country. Same design, same hidden bunker, same reinforced layers. It was all based on the engineer’s blueprint p>
Theo turned to him, brows raised. “Why build two p>
“They wanted to split their assets for safety. Said if something went wrong in one part of the world, they’d have a fallback. But in the end, they chose to stay in the other one.” Andres paused for a moment. “The wife, Bea… she’s sick and was being treated in Zealus Country. Not fit to travel. And with the medical support she needs, they figured it was better to stay close to the facilities there p>
He gave a small, almost regretful smile. “But then the bankruptcy hit. Sudden and unexpected. Mark didn’t go into details, but I could tell it was bad. They needed funds fast, so they had to let go of this private estate quickly, even at a much lower price than it’s worth p>
Theo absorbed every word. There was more to this place than luxury. It was a fortress, built ahead of its time. And now, it was his. The tour continued, and after checking the whole compound and facilities, Theo soon dismissed Andres and Calix.
Then he made his way back through the hall, heading toward the staircase, where he spotted Brenda near the sitting room, folding freshly laundered towels.
“Aries chose the room beside the master’s bedroom,” she said with a kind smile when she saw him approach.
“Thank you, Aunt Brenda,” Theo replied, offering a small smile of his own.
“I should be the one thanking you,” she said, her tone softening as she stood up from her seat. “For letting our family stay in the compound… and for saving my Calix.” She lowered her head in a small bow of gratitude.
Caught off guard, Theo quickly stepped forward and gently held her arm to stop her. “It’s really okay, Aunt Brenda. Calix is a good man. He also took care of my sister when I couldn’t p>

“I should let you rest now,” she said, patting his arm gently. “If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask me p>
“I will,” he nodded, watching her walk away before heading upstairs.
Theo quietly walked down the hallway and stopped in front of Aries’ door. He knocked twice.
A moment later, the door opened. Aries peeked out with a small smile. Her hair was still damp from a shower, tied back in a messy bun. She wore a fresh hoodie and looked a bit more relaxed.
“Hey,” she greeted.
Theo smiled. “Just checking on you. You good p>
Aries opened the door wider. “Yeah. The room is really nice. Feels kind of unreal p>
He stepped inside and looked around. The room was spacious and cozy, with soft lighting and a balcony showing the ocean waves glowing under the moonlight.
“Where should we put Mom’s urn?” Aries asked softly.
Theo turned and looked at the small urn that held their mother’s ashes. Just seeing it made his chest tighten again. The pain was sharp… deep.
He gave Aries a faint smile. “You decide, Aries. Wherever you think it should go in our new home p>
Aries nodded and gave a tired hum. “You look like a mess, big brother. Go shower and get some rest p>
Theo managed a small laugh and nodded. “Alright. I’ll see you in the morning p>
He left and headed to the master bedroom. It was the largest bedroom, fully furnished, and looked like a suite in a luxury hotel. Everything inside was clean, modern, and already prepared for use.
He closed the door behind him and went straight to freshen up. After a quick shower, he sat on the edge of the bed, towel draped over his shoulders as he dried his hair. But even in the quiet of the room, his thoughts were moving fast.

They had a secure place now. It was time to build strength, prepare supplies, and fortify everything they had. He pulled out a notebook and started writing down his To-Do List for tomorrow:

Stock the bunker with supplies.
Find a reliable vehicle.
Map out emergency escape routes.
Set up training schedules.
Theo’s hand gripped the pen tightly. He wasn’t going to be caught unprepared for the apocalypse.
But as he finished jotting down a few notes, a long yawn escaped his lips. His eyelids grew heavy, and the weight of exhaustion finally settled in. He placed the pen down and quickly lay on the bed.
‘I’ll start the daily quests first thing tomorrow morning,’ he thought sluggishly.
His body felt drained, he needed rest. Tomorrow would be a long day.
