Serena pulled her hand from Nathaniel and turned the other way. She said, “If you’ll
let me, I can instruct your PR team. We can coordinate with influencers and

Nathaniel nodded, side-glaring at Gavin. “Yes, my wife should be involved with matters of my company p>
Serena blinked but quickly dismissed his remark. She continued, “I can work all night to upload the legal filings on the new website p>
Nathaniel nodded, but stopped midway. He frowned. “What’s the use of having so many people under my payroll if you don’t get enough sleep? I’ll bring in my attorneys and IT team from the research institute to complete this task. You can monitor them up until midnight only. After that, we both should sleep p>
“Okay,” she said.
While in the air, Serena focused on her laptop. Lines of code and deployment logs reflected faintly in her eyes as her fingers moved swiftly across the keyboard. She adjusted configurations, checked access permissions, and queued the framework for publication.
The work she was doing made her relax. Serena was in her element.
While the site compiled, she pulled documents directly from Velmon’s electronic court filings, verifying each file before organizing them into folders, ready for release.
By the time the plane touched down in Velmon, the website stood complete in structure-bare, functional, and waiting to be populated with evidence.
“We are going to stay at the New Astoria Velmon Hotel. It’s more secure there, and it will be easy for us to meet with the PR team, even at this hour,” Nathaniel said as they got off the jet.

After an hour on the road, they arrived at the Astoria Hotel.
Nathaniel had booked a conference room for the PR and legal briefing. There was already a group of twenty people waiting for them when they arrived.
The group looked surprised to see Nathaniel walk in with… a woman. Serena could tell because everyone’s gaze lingered on her.
It might not have been the fact that he entered with a woman, but the way he had intimately placed his hand on the small of her back and maintained a close distance with Serena.
“Everyone, this is Serena. She is the research director of VanderMed Technologies, our vendor supplier for Vanguard. She’ll be joining us with today’s crisis management meeting,” Nathaniel introduced. “She’s my p>
He paused, deciding how to address her.
The people before them were new faces to Serena. As far as she understood, these were employees working for Nathaniel at the research institute. None of them were from Kline BioSolutions.
Nathaniel turned to Serena, grabbed her hand, and glanced back at the others with a smile. “She’s my better half p>
Instantly, the other men in the room beamed at Serena. Some appeared to know her, while others were simply stupefied by the news. Only Gavin looked emotional, teary-eyed.
As for the women, they were stunned, but one particular female glowered at her.
“Serena, this is Tina Middleton. She
is one of my secretaries at the research institute She will orient on the rally that went on at the facility,” Nathaniel explained.

Serena paid no attention to Tina’s displeasure, especially since the latter quickly masked her expression.
They briefed for an hour over dinner, while the remaining time was spent communicating with publicists and influencers, and uploading information to the new website.
Serena had named the website VelmonVsHolts.
By exactly twelve, the important framework of the website had already been
completed. The rest was up to Nathaniel’s team to finish.

Gavin was left in charge.
Serena and Nathaniel made their way to the tenth level of the hotel. Two of their security personnel followed but were assigned rooms near the elevator bank.
They had been so occupied earlier that Serena never considered their room assignments. It wasn’t until they stopped in front of one room. that Nathaniel said, “We’re here. Our luggage is already inside p>
Serena… froze. She gulped and asked, “We are going to share the same room p>
“Yes, what’s the problem with that?” Nathaniel asked. “We already did unspeakable things. There is no harm in sharing a bed p>
“If it makes you feel comfortable, I promise to keep my hands off you.” He smiled. “I’ll only cuddle p>
“Or,” he smirked, “are you worried that you can’t keep your hands off me p>
“What nonsense are you spouting?” Serena shot back, folding her arms across her chest. “I’m too tired to think of green things right now p>
“Well, so am I,” he said reassuringly. He opened the door and urged, “Come in p>
It was true. She was exhausted.
There was no way she would lose control this time. There was no champagne, after all. The other night didn’t count; she’d only lost her senses because of the alcohol.
Serena convinced herself of that much.
However, after they had both settled
in and Nathaniel lay beside her in bed, half-naked, Serena realized the truth his god-like body had an effect equal to champagne. anything, it was far more potent.
Serena could not believe it.
