She blinked. Somehow, she also felt her uncle was at fault. Melvin knew that they had an ongoing legal case with the Holts. Lincoln, the soldier, had warned Melvin against getting out of the car, but he still did.

Suddenly, the door to the suite opened again. Melvin’s wife, Jean Vander, walked in.
“Serena, what a terrible thing that has happened. I scolded Melvin so much for being so careless,” Jean said, approaching Serena and offering a hug.

“The men who took Serena were arrested. The military has taken them and should have already identified them by now,” Silas said.

“I mean, maybe it was a competitor or an old board member,” Melvin added. “So we know their real motives p>
“We think it was a kidnap and ransom case,” Nathaniel cut in, faking it.
“Oh, dear,” Melvin sighed, adjusting his cuff before saying, “How terrible of them. How could money blind people p>
“Yes, it’s just terrible. Thank God for ” Jean faltered, glancing at Nathaniel. “Thank God for Mr. Thorne and Silas p>
“Yes, indeed,” Melvin said, turning to Nathaniel. “Mr. Thorne, you were very efficient p>
It was the first time Nathaniel and Melvin had met, so introductions were formally made. After that Melvin remarked, suppose you are somewhat forgiven for how you hurt Serena in the past. Somewhat — but you still need to prove yourself p>

“I want to see it. I want to see him suffer,” Serena said, her voice strengthening.

Serena did not give Nathaniel a choice. She wanted vengeance, and she wanted it right then and there.
So instead of returning to Rexam with Sterling and Celine, she went to Fort Greyhold for the very first time.
