Serena covered her mouth, gasping at Alisa’s reaction. She had just called Nathaniel her… her daddy?
A tear rolled down her check. It had been so hard to make Alisa speak. How had it become so natural for her to call Nathan her
dad?
Serena turned to Celine. Her mother was equally stunned, tears welling in her eyes.
For a moment, Serena thought she saw her father lean forward, also taken aback by Alisa’s actions. But whatever made him react that way, he quickly masked it, crossed his legs, and watched everything unfold.
When Serena saw Nathaniel hugging both children, she acknowledged that she had done the right thing. Nathaniel might have hurt her in the past, but she also remembered how good he could be. He had the potential of… being a good father.

As Sebastian spoke, Alisa inched closer. She reached for Nathaniel’s shirt and held

A faint smile formed on Alisa’s lips. Her hazel eyes brightened.
Alisa had one-on-one sessions with her therapist. Aside from that, she also attended playgroup. She had more schooling hours than Sebastian. Serena understood that Alisa might already have more awareness about families and the roles of a mother and father. She might not say it aloud, but Serena believed she comprehended more than most people realized. 1
“Daddy, can you teach Ali and me how to swim? I don’t like our swimming coach,” Sebastian suddenly said, his hands on Nathaniel’s face, urging him to look.

Bianca laughed. Celine did too. Serena bit her lip.
Sterling and Silas tried to look unimpressed, but Serena caught the faint lift at the corners of their mouths.
“I’ll give you snacks,” Nathaniel said at once. Then, after a beat, he added solemnly, “Lots of snacks p>
He turned to Alisa, his voice softening as he took her hand. “Does Daddy sound okay p>
Alisa studied him for a moment, then nodded.
Nathaniel fixed his gaze on her, his smile widening. “I didn’t hear you, Ali. Come again p>
Alisa gulped. She pouted and took a step back.
“Go on, Ali. You can tell me,” Nathaniel encouraged.
Alisa forced a smile and gave Nathaniel a thumbs-up. “Good p>
Serena stayed silent as Nathaniel held both twins’ hands. He asked “Tomorrow, can
I take you out to the theme park? I want to play with both of you p>
Alisa nodded eagerly, her eyes sparkling.
“Yeah!” Sebastian stretched his arms. “Park! Park p>
Sebastian then ran to Serena and tugged at her hand. “Mommy, you’re coming,

“I-” Serena frowned and turned to her father and brother. Neither of them looked pleased.
Only Celine spoke. “Nathan isn’t familiar with the kids yet; it would help if Serena were with them p>
