“Okay.” Charlotte gave a quick, obedient nod and turned toward the school building, her steps light but hurried.
Anthony only looked away when she disappeared from sight. He strolled over to the parking lot, moving with a kind of lazy confidence.
Nearby, Steven was chatting with a young girl, his whole face soft with warmth and pride. The gentle way he spoke to her was nothing like the cold, harsh tone he’d just used with Charlotte.
Hans leaned in and whispered, “Anthony, that’s Ms. Main’s sister.”
Not a real sister, though. No blood ties.
As soon as Hans finished, Steven spotted Anthony and quickly brought Olivia over to him. Besides the Main Group, Olivia was Steven’s biggest source of pride. He remembered that Anthony never had any scandals. The guy’s private life was spotless. Olivia could play the piano, paint, write calligraphy, you name it. Plus, she was beautiful and carried herself well… a perfect match, really.
“Anthony, is everything sorted out?” Steven asked, giving him a nervous, eager smile. He pulled Olivia closer, clearly hoping to impress. “This is my daughter, Olivia. She’s in Class A. Olivia, say hello to Anthony.”
Olivia lifted her eyes shyly. The moment she saw Anthony’s sharp, handsome features and tall, straight posture, her face turned pink and her heart started pounding. She’d heard for ages that Andrew’s big brother was the dream guy for every socialite in Cabinda. Seeing him in person, she realized he was even more attractive and impressive than Andrew. This was the kind of man Olivia wanted. Marrying the most powerful man in Cabinda, becoming the envy of every woman… that was the dream.
“Hello, Anthony.” Olivia’s voice was sweet as she reached out her hand, looking as demure as possible.
Anthony didn’t move. He just stared down at her, his dark eyes cold and silent. It felt like the air around him was freezing.
Awkwardness crept in as Olivia’s hand hung there. Maybe he hadn’t heard her, she thought, so she stepped closer and tried again, her voice softer. “Hello, Anthony. My name is Olivia. I’m a daughter of the Main family.”
“What does your name have to do with me?”
Anthony’s voice was icy, cutting right through her words. His eyes flashed with
obvious annoyance. “A daughter of the Main family, huh?”
Olivia froze, her face turning pale as she nodded.

Anthony looked her over his
gaze dismissive. A faint, mocking smile played on his lips. “I thought you were just one of her maids.”
His cold stare and sharp words hit Olivia like a punch to the chest.
A maid?
Olivia’s face drained of all color. She stood there, completely stunned,
tears stinging her eyes from the humiliation. For eighteen years she’d been treated like a princess, praised and admired by everyone. No one had ever insulted her like this.
But this was Anthony. She couldn’t let herself lose control in front of him. She had to make a good impression.

Hans stepped forward, his voice sharp and cold. “Anthony never remembers people who aren’t good-looking.”
Olivia’s cheeks burned as if she’d just been slapped.
