Chapter 355
The tail was good. If they hadn’t been paying attention, they would have missed it completely.
Charlotte kept her eyes closed, her expression unreadable. “They’re Anthony’s men. Just ignore them.”
Adonis glanced at her in the rearview mirror, a smirk playing on his lips. “So Anthony’s got people watching you, huh?”
“They’re here to protect me, not spy,” Charlotte replied, her voice lazy and soft. “Turn up ahead and slow down.”
“Whatever you say.” Adonis grinned. He was pretty sure Anthony had no idea who Charlotte really was. If he did, he wouldn’t be sending people to tail her like this.
The Hummer drifted into the right lane and rolled out toward the edge of town, finally coasting to a stop after a few more miles.
Charlotte stepped out, arms crossed, and stared down the car following them. She didn’t look annoyed, just cold and detached.
In the car behind, Snake sat frozen in the driver’s seat, confused. Did Charlotte really spot them? With their skills, they should’ve been invisible.
“Snake, do we stop or just drive past?” one of the guys beside him whispered nervously. “I’m a little scared of Charlotte, man.”
The other two nodded, eyes wide.
“She looks like she wants to skin us alive,” one of them muttered.
Snake slowed the car, voice low. “Honestly? I’m nervous too.”
Anthony had told them to stay hidden and keep an eye on Charlotte, but not to upset her or let her notice. He’d said it at least a dozen times. And yet, ten minutes in, they’d already blown it.
“Out. Let’s go.” Snake sighed, rubbing his forehead before opening the door. He motioned for the others to follow.
They approached Charlotte together. Snake bowed his head politely. “Anthony just wanted to make sure you’re safe, so he sent us to follow you.”
“You did fine,” Charlotte replied, her tone even.
All four of them let out a breath. At least she wasn’t mad.
“But don’t do it again.”
They blinked, unsure. She said they did well, but now she wanted them to stop? If
they stopped and something happened to her, they’d all be dead meat.
“Charlotte, Anthony—” Snake started, but Charlotte cut him off.
“You take orders from Anthony, and Anthony takes orders from me,” Charlotte said, not moving from her spot. She was only eighteen, but she had this energy about her that made these tough guys feel like kids in trouble Thave things to handle. 1 be back before Anthony is.”
She paused, lifting her gaze, a cold little smile playing at her lips. “And if any of you
try to rat me out… your guys will disappear too.”
The threat sent a chill through all four of them. They’d seen enough these last few weeks to know one thing for sure: Anthony was completely under Charlottes

control. Sooner or later, she’d be the boss.
“I won’t get into trouble,” Charlotte said, her voice softer. She didn’t want to make things harder on them “Go back I’ll take care everything, and Anthony won’t suspect a thing.”
“Yes, Charlotte,” Snake replied quickly. He knew when to quit while he was ahead.
Charlotte got back in the Hummer and pulled out her phone. There was a text from Anthony waiting for her: Lottie, be good, okay? Don’t make me worry.
She thought for a second, then typed back a quick reply: Okay, I’ll be good.
She turned off her phone and said quietly, “To the airport.”
