Chapter 528
The cashier gave Anthony a long look, her cheeks turning pink as she quietly started scanning everything from their cart.
Charlotte held the plush toy they got for free, leaning into Anthony’s chest while she absentmindedly watched the cashier at work.
Suddenly, Anthony reached out to the shelf next to them and grabbed another box of what looked like “chewing gum,” dropping it on the counter.
“Huh?” Charlotte craned her neck to look at him, her brows raised in confusion. “Do you really like this stuff that much?”
She had only picked up the gum earlier to hit the four hundred minimum for the promotion.
“What’s that?” Anthony’s dark eyes narrowed, and he bent down until his face was close to hers, something dangerous flickering in his gaze.
Charlotte frowned and glanced at the checkout counter. When she saw the big bold letters on the box, her expression froze, turning instantly innocent. She honestly hadn’t realized that was a box of condoms.
Her lips pressed together, her cheeks heating up as she squeezed the toy in her hands. She didn’t say a word.
A couple minutes passed before the cashier, her ears bright red, finally asked, “Which box do you want?”
“The one on the left.” Anthony slid an arm around Charlotte’s waist and bent down to murmur in her ear, his voice low and a little rough. “The one on the right is too small. Wouldn’t work for us.”
Charlotte went completely still. For a second, her heart felt like it skipped a beat, sending heat rushing through her body. She honestly wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear.
“Did you get that? Next time, grab the right one.” Anthony’s voice was casual, but Charlotte shot him a glare. Her mind was a mess, but she forced herself to act calm, shoving him away and mumbling, “Just pay for it.”
She clutched the plush toy and hurried away from the register, her steps just a little too quick.
Anthony watched her make her escape, the corners of his mouth lifting in a smile. His eyes sparkled with amusement and a kind of gentle fondness. He almost never saw her lose her cool like that.
“Sir, that’ll be four hundred and twenty,” the cashier said, still blushing as she handed over the bag. She sneaked another bashful glance at Anthony.
“I’ll take this too.” Anthony picked up the bag, then spotted a lollipop on the counter and grabbed one for good measure.
Once he paid, he turned and left.
As soon as he was out of sight, the cashier stared dreamily after him. “He’s so tall and good-looking, and his body wow. He and his girlfriend are perfect together.” She let out a deep sign. “If want to meet a guy like that in my next life, I probably need to save the entire galaxy this time.”
Back in the car, Anthony set the shopping bag on the seat next to them, the blue box
of “chewing gum” right on top, impossible to miss.
Charlotte just stared at it. Was he actually for real?
“It was for the promo. Figured I’d get it,” Anthony said, reading her thoughts, He scooted closer, his hand slipping to her waist for a gentle squeeze. His voice dropped
a teasing murmur. “We need it
sooner or later.”
“Sooner or later?” Charlotte shot him a look, her eyes narrowing. “Wow, you really plan ahead.”
“Of course.” Anthony’s lips curled into a lazy smile. He pulled a lychee-flavored candy from his suit pocket, unwrapped it, and brought it to her lips. “Your favorite.”
Charlotte gave him a look, then took the candy and popped it in her mouth, leaning into his arms, finally letting herself relax.
