Chapter 546
After picking out the gifts, Charlotte didn’t head out right away. Instead, she ducked into another shop and grabbed a men’s casual outfit.
Back at the hotel, she dropped her bags on the sofa and traced her fingers over the sleek gift boxes. Her eyes, dark and thoughtful, landed on Adonis. “Did you get what I asked for?”
Adonis nodded. “Yeah.” He handed her a lifelike silicone mask he’d prepared in advance. The face was so realistic, no one would ever guess it was fake.
“Charlotte, you’re really going to meet Anthony?” Adonis asked, his eyebrows pulled together.
“Of course. Why wouldn’t I?” Charlotte glanced at the mask and smiled, a lazy, confident curve to her lips. “I want to see what he’s up to.”
Adonis didn’t say anything after that.
Jackson pressed his lips together, but for once, his expression actually looked relaxed. He almost seemed excited to see Anthony’s face when he found out Charlotte was actually N.
The next morning, Charlotte got up early. She changed into the men’s clothes she’d bought, put on the mask and a wig, and checked herself from head to toe. There wasn’t a single thing out of place.
Jackson and Adonis just stared at her, totally stunned. With that mask and the way Charlotte did her makeup, this wasn’t just a disguise. It was like she’d swapped out her whole head.
“Okay, that’s seriously cool,” Adonis breathed out. Even Anthony would do a double- take. Honestly, Charlotte might not even recognize herself.
“These are your masks. Put them on.”
“Yes, boss,” Jackson and Adonis replied, slipping on their masks.
Together, the group piled into their cars and set out for X Organization’s base.
The headquarters sat in the industrial district on the west side of Frostford. Pretty much the whole area was X Organization’s turf.
As soon as they crossed into enemy territory, Jackson and Adonis tensed up. They radioed the cars following behind, telling everyone to stay. sharp and make sure nothing happened to Charlotte’s vehicle. Anthony had been soft with
Charlotte for so long that it was easy to forget how ruthless he could actually be.
The truth was, Anthony only ever showed his soft side to Charlotte. The rest of the time… especially when it came to N Organization, he wouldn’t hesitate to wipe them out. They had to be extra careful One wrong move on the way, and the whole thing could go sideways.
“Charlotte is way too calm,” Adonis muttered to Jackson after giving orders to the team. He glanced back at Charlotte who bad her eyes closed and looked like she was just napping. “It’s like she’s not worried about getting ambushed at all.” Cóntent
Jackson’s hands tightened on the wheel. His palms were slick with sweat. Honestly, Anthony should be the one who’s worried.
They rolled through checkpoint after checkpoint without trouble, until they got close
to X Organization’s core base, where the security checks got intense.
“Sorry, but our boss says no one from N Organization can bring weapons or equipment inside.”
Adonis bristled. “You’re just asking us to walk in unarmed? How are we supposed to negotiate like that? This is ridiculous!”
Jackson frowned and looked back at Charlotte. Not letting them carry weapons was pushing it. They might not even make it to see Anthony. X Organization was definitely capable of something like that.
“Tell everyone to hand over their weapons.” The voice from the back seat was deep and steady. With the window up, all you could see was the outline of a young man.
“Charlotte!”
Charlotte leaned back and stared out the window, her voice cool and calm. “You heard me. Hand them over.”
