Chapter 725
Charlotte was absentmindedly chewing on her candy, bored and staring into space, when she suddenly noticed a tall, lean figure down on the street. It was the same guy she had seen outside the competition venue earlier. Everything about him—his height, his vibe—reminded her so much of Anthony, except for his face.
She swallowed the last of her chocolate and spoke into her phone, “I’m hanging up.” “Where are you going?” Newell’s tone turned cold.
Their calls never lasted longer than five minutes. As her mentor, he didn’t hold much weight in her eyes.
“Checking up on someone,” Charlotte replied with a flat voice, then ended the call without waiting for a response.
Checking up on someone?
Newell stared at his phone, then glanced at the person next to him. “What does she mean, checking up on someone?”
His subordinate coughed, trying to explain, “Usually, it means when a couple isn’t together and one calls the other to see what they’re up to.”
A couple?
Hearing that, Newell’s face darkened even more. He muttered, “Seems like she really likes Anthony.”
The subordinate grinned. “If Nine’s into a guy, he has to be special.”
Special? Wasn’t it just because he was rich? Newell was wealthy too, so why wasn’t Charlotte interested in him?
He frowned, his voice icy. “Transfer two hundred million to Charlotte’s institute. Keep digging into Anthony.”
He had always thought Anthony was just some pretty face with money. But if Charlotte was this into him, he obviously wasn’t that simple.
Charlotte didn’t waste a second after hanging up on Newell. She immediately called Anthony.
After two rings, Anthony picked up. “Lottie, it’s late. Why aren’t you sleeping?”
Charlotte kept her eyes on the man down below. He wasn’t on his phone.
So maybe she was just being paranoid?
“Nothing,” she replied, voice low and a little sulky.
“Did you miss me?” Anthony’s laugh was soft and deep. “Want me to come over?”
She almost blurted out “yes” before she could stop herself. If he stepped into Solenia, the people from N Organization would probably eat him alive.
Dating was exhausting.
“Alright, I’ll behave.” When Charlotte didn’t answer, Anthony’s voice turned gentle. “It’s late, baby. Get some sleep, okay?”
“Okay.” Charlotte agreed quietly. She glanced out the window again, but the man was already gone.

She put her phone down, reached into her drawer for her meds, and swallowed two pills. After a moment, she took two more for good measure Then she crawled, into bed, mugged Anthony’s shirt to her chest, and let herself drift off with his scent wrapped around her.
Meanwhile, just next door in the hotel, Anthony was looking at his phone’s call log with a small,
indulgent smile. He’d already
guessed she would get suspic
so he’d recorded a couple of tines ahead of time te never thought She’d fall for the same trick she’d used on him so many times.
Silly girl.
He turned to the window, letting his eyes linger on Solenia’s city lights, then back at Charlotte’s photo on his phone. His expression grew serious. If he hadn’t gone after N Organization, Charlotte wouldn’t have ended up tangled in this mess. The more he thought about it, the worse he felt.
After a long, silent moment, Anthony picked up his phone again and sent an
anonymous tip to N Organization’s intelligence bureau.
The message read: The head of X Organization just arrived in Solenia.
He owed them, and it was time to pay that debt.
