Chapter 804
A baby?
Charlotte’s mind went completely blank for a second.
She’d honestly never thought about it before. Patience had never been her thing, and when it came to kids… well, she probably wouldn’t be great at it. Just imagining a baby crying and crying, impossible to calm down, gave her a headache.
“Not a fan?” Anthony asked gently, noticing her frown. “What if it was our baby?”
Our baby.
Charlotte’s hands stilled on the tablet. She looked up at Anthony, and out of nowhere she pictured a sweet little kid who looked just like him. Big eyes, soft features, a tiny version of Anthony.
Hmm.
When she thought of it like that, maybe the idea didn’t seem so bad after all.
She looked at him, blinking a few times. It took her a moment before she said, seriously, “I’m still young.”
A smile touched Anthony’s lips, soft and genuine. His arms tightened around her, pulling her closer. He brushed his lips against her ear, voice low and warm. “Then I’ll wait until you’re ready, okay?”
Charlotte glanced over at him, catching the hope in his eyes, and felt a little flutter in her chest.
He really seemed to love the idea of having kids.
“Just wait and see,” she replied with a small, serious smile, her eyes narrowing playfully.
Wait and see?
Did that mean yes?
Anthony looked confused, but Charlotte just smiled and turned her attention back to the tablet.
Jackson had sent a message in the group chat. The DNA test results were in her inbox.
She opened the email. The smile faded from her face as she read through the files.
There were two reports.
One was for Olivia and Steven.
The other was for her and Steven.
The first one said, “Based on genetic analysis, Steven is confirmed as Olivia’s biological father.”
The other said, “Based on genetic analysis, the kinship index between Steven and Charlotte is 35 percent. A father-daughter relationship is not supported.”
Not supported. That meant she and Steven weren’t related.
The report had been done at the N Organization’s research lab, using the best technology available, with an accuracy rate of 99.99 percent.
So…
Steven really wasn’t her biological father.
No wonder he’d always treated Olivia better than her when they were kids. It all made sense now.
She’d kind of expected it.
Anthony had read the report too. She
saw the flicker of shock and
something darker in his eyes, but he calmed himself quickly and asked in a low voice “Where did things Wrong?
These new reports had to be right, so why hadn’t it come up before?
“It could be a genetic mutation,” Charlotte said quietly. She wasn’t sure if it was on Steven’s side or her mother’s.
She set the tablet aside and reached for Anthony’s hand, slipping

“I need to talk to Steven. There are things I need to know.”
“Right now?” Hans sounded surprised. Charlotte had been going nonstop all day, and she already looked exhausted. Plus, ever since The Main Group went bankrupt Steven’s family had been forced out of Cabinda and moved to the next city over.
It would take about two hours to get there.
“Yes,” she said, not hesitating. Anthony dipped down and pressed a gentle kiss to
her cheek, then looked at Hans and said quietly, “Let’s do what she wants.”
If Steven wasn’t her real father…
