Lemira stood firm, her mind made up about leaving the mansion for good.
Alaric scoffed, “Fine, get the hell out then! I’d love to see how well you do without the Langston fortune backing you p>
Lucian couldn’t bear it any longer, “That’s enough, Alaric p>
“Lucian, look here, it was Lemira who wanted to bail on us first! She’s the one turning her back on our family p>
Alaric’s eyes were bloodshot, his emotions running high. He had already swallowed his pride today, yet Lemira still wanted to leave. Was she waiting for him, her brother, to get down on his knees and beg for forgiveness? Evelina quickly intervened, “Alaric, calm down, will you? Lemmy’s just joking around. If she doesn’t want to tutor me, it’s fine. We have a private tutor, and I’m quite happy with that, really p>
Alaric glared fiercely at Lemira, “Look how considerate Eve is, and then there’s you. Have you ever stopped to reflect on your actions, Lemira p>
“Alaric, let’s just go. I have some game moves I need to ask you about p>
Evelina glanced back at Lucian, “We’ll be off then, Lucian p>
“Go ahead p>
Seeing Evelina’s understanding nature softened Lucian a bit more.
Evelina wasn’t originally a part of the Langston clan, but she had let her grades slip all for the sake of team training. She always knew how to smooth things over when conflicts arose at home. Compared to Lemira’s actions, Evelina seemed all the more sensible.
Lucian looked at Lemira with disappointment, “Don’t take Alaric’s words to heart. You’re still one of us, a Langston p>
Lemira replied calmly, “I think it’s better if I move out p>
Lucian’s expression darkened, “Lemmy, what do you want us to do to return to those happy days when we all got along?” The way things used to be? Lemira felt a surge of fatigue. She didn’t even have the energy to respond. Just disappointment. With a forced smile, Lemira said, “That’s not possible p>
After her cold reply, she headed straight for her room upstairs.
She would not, like in her previous life, humbly give her all only to be utterly ignored and eventually abandoned. Never again!
After this incident, Lemira and her brothers entered a cold war period where they hardly spoke. But she relished the peace, no longer having to deal with them.
Soon, the team revival match was upon them, scheduled for this Saturday.
Evelina had been absent from school for days, claiming she was sick, but Lemira knew she was prepping for the competition.
Lemira’s daily routine of eating and attending school remained unaffected.
Lucian approached her, leaving a ticket for the match, “There’s a game this afternoon. You should come and support them p>
Lemira responded indifferently, “Got it p>
Lemira didn’t even seem concerned about their match preparation. Seeing her indifference, especially compared to Evelina’s dedication to the point of skipping school, Lucian felt even more disheartened. “Lemmy, one day you’ll understand we only mean well p>
Without saying more, Lucian left the hall. Lemira felt so disgusted by his words that she lost her appetite.
She put down her utensil; the thought of moving out grew stronger in her mind.
She picked up the match ticket, intent on going. She wanted to witness firsthand how Alaric’s team would fail without her efforts.
She snapped a photo of the ticket and sent it to Orion. [I’m going to the match this afternoon, won’t be on the game.] They had planned to play together this weekend.
Orion replied instantly. [Okay p>
As he messaged back, a nosy figure tried to peek at the conversation but couldn’t see anything. Thaddeus clasped his chest, “Come on, let me have a look. Why so petty?” Orion gave him a glance, “Got nothing better to do, huh p>
“Why so serious? I mean, you could just compensate her directly for your guilt. What’s with sticking around her all the time p>
