Now she was in deep trouble. If Caspian found out, she was as good as dead.
Lemira, observing Evelina’s guilty demeanor, had a pretty good guess of what had transpired.
She turned to Caspian, “Remember that time you almost got beaten to a pulp by those thugs in the alley p>
“Lemira, you finally remembered. Don’t you feel a bit guilty p>
“Why should I? I ran out of the alley to get help for you. That’s when I bumped into Evelina, but the thugs found us. They threatened us to reveal your whereabouts p>
Caspian frowned deeply. “Lemira, did you tell those thugs where I was p>
“The one who betrayed your location was Evelina, not me. If I hadn’t distracted Evelina by claiming I knew where you were and led them in the opposite direction, you wouldn’t be here today.” Lemira remembered it all too well.
Ever since that incident, Caspian had been increasingly hostile towards her.
On the other hand, Evelina seemed to grow closer to Caspian, who often came to her defense.
