Evelina shivered, turning to Asher. “Asher, I think I need to lie down. I can’t stay here and look at that disgusting butler p>
“Hold on a sec,” Asher replied.
Caspian stepped in front of Evelina, blocking her path. “Weren’t you just so confident? Now you’re trying to run away p>
Moments ago, she seemed so sure of Lemira’s guilt, and now a video shows up, and she’s bolting?
Evelina’s eyes darted around nervously. “The truth is clear as day. I’m the victim here. Lemira’s the one who walks away without a scratch, isn’t she p>
Why are they still on her case?
Lemira tapped play on the video. The lighting was dim, but it was clear enough: Zack was pinning Evelina down.
Asher looked away, uncomfortable. “Turn the volume up p>
This wasn’t something Asher wanted to watch.
Soon, Zack’s slurred words filled the room. “You think being Ms. Lemira means squat? I still had my way with you. Cross Ms. Evelina, and she’ll make sure you suffer too p>
Lucian’s hand flew out, slapping Evelina across the face. “What do you have to say for yourself? How could you be so cruel p>
Lucian was stunned. Evelina actually got Zack to do something like this?
How did an adopted daughter dare?
Caspian turned to Asher. “Asher, the truth’s out now. Did you hear that? Evelina orchestrated everything, that’s who she is p>
Asher looked like he’d taken a punch to the gut.
He glanced at Lemira, guilt in his eyes, but didn’t know how to start.
Then Zack shouted, “I-I was drunk, talking nonsense. I did it all myself. No one
told me to. Ms. Lemira wanted me gone, and I couldn’t handle it p>
Zack was taking all the blame.
Evelina breathed a sigh of relief. Now it had nothing to do with her.
She started to cry, looking pitiful. “Asher, you know Lemmy never liked me, but I’ve never had any ill will towards her. I couldn’t do something so awful. And anyway, I ended up being the victim here p>
Asher, a bit softened, helped Evelina up. “I know you wouldn’t do something like that p>
Caspian sneered. “Evelina, you dug your own grave. Serves you right p>
“Enough! Can’t you see Eve’s been through hell too?” Asher interjected.
Asher kicked Zack. “Lock him in the basement. We’ll send him to the police tomorrow p>
Lemira’s voice dripped with
sarcasm. “Why not call the cops now? Didn’t Evelina say there was
something wrong with the milk net

Evelina panicked because she hadn’t touched any tainted milk.
She quickly turned to Asher. “Asher, let’s hold off on calling the police. I’m worried about the Langston family’s reputation. I don’t want this getting out p>
If the cops found out anything, she’d be doomed.
Asher nodded. “Eve, you’re being sensible. Go take a shower and rest. We’ll deal with this in the morning p>
“Hold on, who said you could leave? Calling the police isn’t just your decision,” Lemira interrupted.
Lemira was stunned. Even with clear evidence, Asher was still shielding Evelina. Asher walked up to her, his tone commanding. “Enough. You could’ve stopped it all, but you just watched Eve getting attacked by Zack. Do you really think you’re blameless p>
Lemira met his gaze. “It’s called karma, Asher. She got what she deserved.” Everyone knew the truth deep down.
Asher, furious, raised his hand, but Lemira blocked him firmly, her voice icy. “What, did I lie? You can’t say you don’t know the truth, but you still protect Evelina p>
Asher’s expression changed. No matter what, this couldn’t blow up.
“But Eve’s been through enough already. Let it go, Lemira. Delete the video p>
“Deleting it is not gonna happen. I just got back and got hit with this bombshell. I’m gonna see this through p>
“What do you want, then? You heard Zack. It’s got nothing to do with Eve. He’s taking all the blame. Even if you call the cops, it won’t change a thing” Asher’s words carried a threat.
