Lemira snorted, feeling no need to respond.
“Lemira, I get that you feel slighted, thinking we favor Evelina over you. But isn’t it because her father once saved your life? And she’s always been such a sweet and sensible girl. Lemira felt her temples throbbing with irritation. She was momentarily speechless.

Blaming herself for not seeing through the so-called family bond sooner! Lemira stormed off to class.
Lucian stood outside, a picture of helplessness.
He wanted to mend fences with Lemira, but she seemed to be having none of it! How could he make Lemira understand that his strictness came from the fact that she was his actual sister. But not Evelina, which was why he was more lenient with her. It wasn’t favoritism!
Evelina approached, “Lucian, I’m sorry. Maybe I should move out to prevent Lemmy from constantly being upset with you guys. I hate to see you and your sister alienated over me p>
Lucian managed a weak smile, “Don’t be silly, it has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to move out. You’re my sister, always p>
Evelina turned into a smile, “Promise? Pinky swear p>
Lucian looked at Evelina fondly, wishing Lemira could be as understanding.
He said, “You need to focus on your studies, stop having classmates do your homework p>
Evelina’s face stiffened slightly, “I know I was wrong p>
“As long as you learn from your mistakes p>
Lucian appreciated Evelina’s apologetic demeanor and wished Lemira could take a leaf out of her book.
Back in class, Lemira noticed that Wendy’s seat was empty, but she felt no sympathy.
A few days later, the school announced a cheating incident, and Wendy was disciplined. Evelina was also reprimanded in front of the whole class.
After the lecture, the teacher took out the transcript, “The results are in, and I’d like to give special praise to Lemira for making significant progress, securing the tenth spot. Everyone should learn from her. The last period of endeavor surely can make improvement.” The classroom buzzed with surprise.

Lemira, uncharacteristically nervous, stood up, “The reason I improved so much is I had an epiphany. Live for yourself. And, well, pulling all-nighters solving problems helped p>
Living for herself, no longer sacrificing for the so-called family. In her past life, she only ended up moving herself.
As Evelina saw Lemira in the spotlight, her face twisted with jealousy. How dare this nobody outshine her!
Watching her test paper, she instantly crushed it into a ball, blaming Wendy, the trull, for getting caught. If not, her grades would’ve surely improved.
After lunch, Lemira returned to class to find a few love letters in her desk, catching her by surprise.
The monitor leaned in, “Lemira, you’re the talk of the town now, e-sports goddess and straight-A student. The heartthrob from the private high school next door has been asking about you, even wanted your contact info.” The heartthrob from the private school? Wasn’t that Evelina’s secret crush?
