When Lemira returned to her dorm room, she noticed several bags on her desk.
Janice, her roommate, casually remarked, “Looks like your boyfriend sent you some stuff again, just like he used to p>
Sure enough, Lemira’s boyfriend had been known to send her gifts before.
She walked over and saw a few high-end shopping bags, one of which contained a pair of limited edition boxing gloves. In the past, a gift like this would have thrilled her.
But now, she just pushed the bags aside without even opening them. She knew she’d be sending them back in a few days anyway.
After a shower, Lemira lay back in bed and noticed an unread message on her phone. Her heart skipped a beat as she wondered who it was from.

Lemira stared at the screen for a long time but ultimately didn’t reply.

The next morning, the first thing Lemira did was check her phone.
She hadn’t responded to Orion, and he hadn’t sent any more messages.

“Do you want to wait for him to apologize half-heartedly and then marry his fiancée leaving you with nothing?” Janice challenged.

Stella owed Lemira a favor and was eager to pay it back.
Lemira knew the Waverlies had clout, but they might not stand a chance against the Everhart family.
If Stella helped, it could drag the Waverlies into trouble too.
